I am well into getting a restoration job done on my 70 fleetside Chevy. So far I am happy with the work a local shop is doing but the fellow is not a specialist and we have run into a problem we don't know what to do with. The opening from the cab into the engine compartment for the brake linkage looks very large. I have not spotted any grommets or other parts in my LMC catalog that look like they would do the job. I have replaced my rubber mat with some sound insulation and padding and put in carpeting but it just does not seem like this will keep out water, noise, heat and cold. Anyone know what we are leaving out?

It sounds like you are missing the boot.
Check this link out. Jim http://www.gmcpauls.com/brakes_2.htm |

I agree. The boot is missing. I got mine there and it fit perfectly. No more engine racket coming through.
