Smoke!!!

My back up lights dont work. Actually, they have never worked since I got the truck almost 10 years ago and today is the first time I tried to figure out why... So I got my little volt meter and checked the bulb socket. No juice. So, I looked up where the switch is for my truck, and went to test it. I noticed it was a little loose so I pushed it down a little, and it started smoking! Stinky too. Well, I guess I know why my backup lights dont work. Do you think anything else got fried? Here is a pic.

Could have a bad switch (grounded to frame) or might just have had a loose connection and wiring to backup lights is grounded or shorted, If it smoked hope it blew a fuse before it melted some wiring.

No fuses blew. The smoke came from the switch. I wonder if replacing the switch will fit it, or smoke again.

Looks like the wires coming out of the switch are good,I'd say no wiring got burned.Generally the plastic will be melted on the wires.Replace the switch and see what happens..............carefully

Anyone know where I can get a new one? I checked Brothers, Chevy Duty, and Classic Muscle. The first two didnt have anything. I found a "Neutral Safety/Backup Lamp Switch" but I do not thing that is the right thing.

Hmmm, part number 3745921 from Classic Muscle seems right ("Backup Lamp Switch - all with 3 speed") but there is no pic. Guess I should call them.
