Hope no one from the board is involved
As an aside if this is recent, they have another reason to jack up the price of gas (like they need any help in doing that

PROBABLY WHY THE FBI IS INVOLVED, MAYBE TERRORIST RELATED, SINCE
IT HAPPENED ALMOST EXACTLY ONE YEAR APART FROM THE OTHER ONE.

This plant has a horrible safety record. Texas City is also the site of worst industrial accident in US history, an explosion involving a freighter with a load of fertilizer that leveled the town. Hopefully no members were directly affected.

Cool

Death toll 14 and over a 100 injured so far ,and the FBI was called in last yr.,these types of business's are always targets so they investigate even the small accidents for over the past decade, not a new thing just because of possible terrorism.

This is the email sent to all BP employees in regards to the explosion:

As you will be aware, following the tragic incident in Texas City, we have announced that 14 fatalities have occurred and more than 70 people have received treatment following the fire. We are continuing to check that all of our workforce on site are accounted for. The explosion occurred at 13.20 local time Wednesday 23 March, during a major annual maintenance programme. The fire, which was extinguished after just over two hours, was at the Isomerization Unit. At this point our prime focus is on our people and on the community.

BP is working closely with the emergency services and its contractors and an employee assistance programme has been set up. A BP Accident Investigation team is due to arrive at the site today and will cooperate fully with all local authorities in order to establish what caused this terrible tragedy. John Mogford will be leading this team. A Group Crisis Support team has been set up in London, under my leadership

John Manzoni, Ross Pillari and Mike Hoffman are all now at the site and John Browne is due to arrive shortly. Ross Pillari has recently issued the following statement:

“I am here today to express BP’s deep regret over yesterday’s accident. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of those who died and with those from the workforce and the community who were injured.

Throughout the day and the weeks to come we will continue to cooperate with all local, state and federal authorities. We will also commit our full corporate resources to investigating the cause of the accident.

I am here to support our staff, the community and our contractors as they continue to work to assist families and the community.”

Updates are being posted on a continuous basis on OneBP and local intranet sites, as well as on bp.com.

I know that I speak on behalf of every single person in the BP Group as I express my most sincere condolences to all our colleagues, their families and the community at Texas City refinery.

This is a very sad time for BP.
