Do I need more tools?
I am getting new bearings and seals for my rear 12 bolt axle in my 70 chevy C-10 after work to change out while I do my 6 lug to 5 lug axle swap, hopefully tonight. Is there any tools or techniques I need to swap out the bearings and seals? Does any one have any advice for best way to do this.
Thanks guys.

Re: Do I need more tools?
Without knowing what tools you have it's pretty tough to judge if you NEED more tools or not.
As a general rule though if you have to ask if you need a tool,,,,,,,YES YOU NEED MORE TOOLS! NO MATTER HOW MANY YOU ALREADY HAVE. Look for a bearing removal/installation set. Mine has a 5lb slide hammer and an assortment of attachments for removing bearings/seals/races, but has nothing to install said parts. I've always used a bfh and a peice of 2x4 to keep from beating up the race/seal. This method can be difficult to ensure straightness though. Frank

Re: Do I need more tools?
Here is what I found at harbor freight,,,,
http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...temnumber=5223 http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=38878 Flebay has several with a search for slide hammer. The less expensive ones are ok if your only using them once in a while. If your planning on using it alot I would drop the cash on a better brand/higher quality set. Frank
