1992 Chevy Instrument Cluster

I was wondering if anyone has ever replaced thier standard cluster with one that has a tach. Is it already wired? Can I just replace it and plug it in or do I need to get a different harness? Thanks to anyone that can help!

Scott

Yea, that's what I was wondering. 92-94 is the same. Can I just plug in the tach version and go?

The wirring is the same no matter which cluster your truck came with so yes it is P-N-P.

swbls12b has it right, at least for some of the 1992s. There are compatibility issues with different years. In 1992 I believe some trucks had automatics that were electronically shifted by the computer and some that were not. I believe they all had the DARC separate from the instrument panel but I am not positive.

Also keep in mind, the instrument panels is not the same for a V6 as it is for a V8, if it has a tachometer. The tach will not read correctly if replacement instrument panel was from a vehicle with a different number of cylinders. If you are capable of soldering good enough to change parts on a circuit board you can convert them, if they don't match your engine.
