water temp gauge

I've replaced the thermostat
I've replaced the wire
I've cleaned the contact
I have heat

But....

My gauge still reads slightly over the cold mark.

Its more annoying than anything else because i'm a perfection nerd,

so is it the gauge itself?

Re: water temp gauge

Sometimes the resistor on the back of the instument cluster can make the needle do funny things.

did you cange the thermostat to one that runs colder than what the factory used?
Factory should be 195

Re: water temp gauge

Weak resistor, change it out and that will solve the issue

ok, at the risk of sounding retarded.. the resistor is on the back of the gauge or somewhere else?

Yes on the back on the two middle posts top to bottom. it will be a piece of porcelian or a piece of wire mesh, no rhyme or reason that I have found for the difference in the resistors.
