Is it possible to modify this generation of truck from LWB to SWB like it is with the last generation? The thread in the faq section got me thinking about it and while I was under my LWB today I took some rough measurements.

(The two 7" squares are the leaf brackets.)

I know a guy who shortened a 4x4 frame. I have no details what so ever though his son just mentioned it I didn't have time to ask questions.

Look for a post from OJOE about making a crew cab short bed.
For doing the conversion he took the rear section of a short bed frame and "grafted" it onto the long bed frame using the bolt holes from the cab mounts as locators.

It might be easier to do with a 1-ton frame because of the frame differences but I would think you could do it with a 1/2-ton frame too.
Not much cutting and if you line up the cab mount holes your gauranteed to get it back together square.

Of course this requires having a short bed frame available to you? I have a 4x4 short bed that has a bent frame in the front. I have been resisting getting rid of it thinking I may be able to do a 4x4 crew cab short bed conversion but the signifigant other is tightening the screws...

I've actually been keeping my eye out for a shortbed frame in my area but no luck so far.

Does anybody have any pics of how the rear bumper is attached on swb trucks?

Take 14" out of the frame behind the cab.

Take 4.75" off the rear.

Replace the parking brake cables, brake line and gas tank with a 16 gal.

Shorten Driveshaft

Drive it. Its not as hard as it sounds. The best thing to do is have the short bed on hand to help you set up your measurements. The 2nd set of bolt holes from the rear will line up with the short bed and help you with the measurements. The rest will have to be drilled.
