picking up my new baby tomorrow...

Pics will come this weekend if its nice out

Its a 1969 Chevy c10 stepside.

The truck is already on the right path... already lowered, sitting on 15x10's on the back and 15x7's up front. 4.11 gears in the rearend and a 350 under the hood. Mated to a 2 speed powerglide.

So much for getting a decent mpg...

Inspection is Saturday, then the following week its a trip to a shop nearly an hour away to get a quote on having the engine worked over. The ultimate goal is to break 500whp.

I may swap out the transmission with a 3 speed auto, or a 4 speed manual, to make it a little easier on the road since that's where it will spend most of its time.

Very minor rust. Some rust through on the rear wheel wells, and a small hole in the cab on the floor behind the seat. Otherwise she's clean and straight.

I can't wait to get this truck and get her on the road and haulin' ass

Re: picking up my new baby tomorrow...

yeah, 500hp is going to be nuts... I'm thinking of having it supercharged, just for the awesome sound.... lol

I'm so excited to get the truck and getting quotes to figure out a budget

Re: picking up my new baby tomorrow...

congrats. for 500rwhp with a 350.....I'm guessing your going to have to have the forced induction...or the bottle.

I'm pulling my little 305ci this week (trying to set up for tomorrow) and replacing it with a 383 stroker. With the heads and cam the 383 has, I'm guessing it will have around 350hp or so when I'm done tuning.

I also have a plan for 500rwhp...but it involves a different chassis and different motor to get there...like a big 400+ci stroker LSX.

Supercharged or twin turbo... I'm thinking supercharger though... not much room to spool up with the powerglide

You might like the way 500hp scoots with a built Powerglide.More gears is a nice thing for streetability. But you can`t beat a single shift for moving-out,if you have the power.

haha I understand that.

But I intend on driving the truck in nice weather and going to car shows with it... whether or not its done lol.

the powerglide will stay in for now. We'll see what happens when I destroy it lol.

I have no doubt i'll end up breaking the rearend and the tranny at some point. I need to get it a clean bill of health and take it to the drag strip as is to see what it can do.

I've got my fingers crossed it'll last. Its been sitting for a year. But has been maintained well enough to start right up after the battery was charged. Little white smoke coming from the exhaust though. But there are no mufflers or catalytic converters and the exhaust is pretty much dumped right out after the doors...

I may be reading this wrong... but if you put a 3 speed or a 4 speed, your RPMs will stay the same on the freeway. They add gears down low, not up high.

right, I can roll around at 2k instead of 5k.

First gear in this truck ends somewhere after 50mph and before 60mph. So having more gears down low means better gas mileage around town.

and trust me... I can't wait to be able to take pictures...

Re: picking up my new baby tomorrow...

superchargers rock and with a good set of head, a cam to match and a free flowing exaust you could be makeing very very close to 500HP if your not making 500 with a weiand 142. With my stock 350 I'm hoping I'm making 400-420TQ and 360-370HP but I'm probly hoping a little high but it's fun to wish

no budget set yet. I'm going to take it around to shops and get quotes and then figure out what I can afford to set aside each paycheck.

Re: picking up my new baby tomorrow...

well... I almost got to pick her up...

truck is officially in my name. Charged the battery, started her right up. turned the lights on... rears weren't working... messed around with some ground wires back there, blew the fuse on the dash...

since it was dark I wasn't driving home in the truck. Waiting till this weekend, probably sunday as we're due rain on saturday. If we don't get the rear lights working in an hour I'm bringing her home anyway w/ my friend behind me in her car.

First order of business... making the mess of wires powering the two LED rear lights not so messy... second order of business... finding and order a new wiring harness and fuse box that holds newer fuses and rewiring the truck. Probably order some more "classic" style rear lights and some newer style bulb headlights.

And the projects begin

I like the classic M/T Valvecovers, keep them on there when you build the 500 HP motor, the Scoop is cool too
