72 core support on 67

How can I make a 72 core support work on a 67 chevy. I actually have a 72 I am working on, but I am using a 67 front clip. The core support on the 67 is bent, so I thought I could use my 72 core support. I noticed it does not have mounting for tray underneith like the 67 does. Also the headlite mounting is throwing me off. Anyone have any info or ideas? Thanks

or can I make a 68 gmc core support work on it

Re: 72 core support on 67

You will need another 67-68 core support to work with your 67 clip. The 69-72 core supports are different, and your 67 fenders and hood will not line up correctly. I was going to do the same with my 72 Chevy a while back, but the guys at Brothers gave me this information. Hope it helps.

Re: 72 core support on 67

The GMC will work and so will the 72 one. You will have to change head light buckets, use the 68 on the 72 core support or the GMC(because of the dual head light buckets)
As far as the panel that goes between the bumper and the core support drill holes to match the panel and use rivenuts to secure it. You will also have to drill a few holes for the difference in the wiring.
All the 67-72 core supports are basically the same, the differences are the head light buckets, some wiring holes, the bumper panel aand A/C or non A/C.
Done a few of them 69-72 core supports are cheaper and easier to find.

I decided to use the 68 gmc, looks like all I need to do is take off the headlight buckets, the rest seems to be identical. I am using a chisel and hammer to remove, any better ideas?

Yes, drill out the spot welds. It works a lot better and makes a lot cleaner piece when you are finished. The GMC core support may not have the square holes for the '67-68 headlight mounting bolts, but I'm not sure. I'm not that familiar with the GMC stuff...
