k5 emblem
I found a NOS K5 emblem for my 2wd. Does anyone know if I'm going to need to remove the fender to get to the nuts if I install it in the factory location?
Also, I'm still looking for one more emblem if anyone has a lead. I'm not looking to pay $75 for a repoped one.

Re: k5 emblem
You'd think I'd know this since I just had my whole front clip off. Looking at the pics of mine torn down, I want to say yes, you need the fender off to get to the emblem because of the firewall. If I'm wrong, I'm sure someone else will gladly correct me

Re: k5 emblem
You can get it without completely removing it. if you take it loose at the bottom and pull the inner. I have done it before

Re: k5 emblem
Wish I had known you were looking for some, I have a verbal
agreement on "GQ" that expires on 06/27/08. (Yes I know it's a month away) If it does not sell I'll be dumping my NOS pair.

Re: k5 emblem
When I got mine the passenger was broken and was a k5blaze. I got a repo one and removed the old and installed the new with out removing anything. I would think you could do the same, but nos could be a costly mistake. I thought I only payed like 30 something for mine.

Re: k5 emblem
It is very tough. The passenger side is harder with the heater box. I hand my wife reach up inside the drivers fender to put the nut on the emblems on my old 69. The inner fenders were out and I couldn't get my hand up in there to reach the rear post on the emblem. Neither of us could reach up into the passenger side to install the emblems. Give it a try and see if you can go about it a creative way. You'll have to remove the inner fender either way so you might as well try.

Re: k5 emblem
Thanks for the info. I just found the measurements after searching page by page in my assembly manual for 30 mins. , but the numbers are illegible

Re: k5 emblem
Driver side replacement is easy. You can get to the nuts from the driver side. The passenger side is another story. I still have a NOS emblem that I scored on ebay for $.99 + $3.50 S&H waiting to go on. I can't get to it from the engine compartment. From what I read here, looks like loosening the fender is the way to go.

Re: k5 emblem
Just fill it with silicone and stick it on there!! hehehehe
I have seen some interesting fasteners that you just PUSH the emblem into on the fender--speciality fasteners that hold the pins really well. |

Re: k5 emblem
Yeah, how about some kind of 2 part epoxy. They use it now to put cars and trucks together, I'm sure it'd hold some emblems on. Especially with the studs going through the fender.

Re: k5 emblem
There are some extremely strong double stick tapes out there now too...
