Tahoe seats in a 72 questions
Where do I get them, how do you mount them and how much do they cost, ballpark. Also, van you mount them with the gas tank behind the seat or do you have to move it? Also, do most people use front or second row seats?

Well, you can get them from the salvage yard, or on E-bay. I gave $150 for mine, but GMan69 gave like $50 for his and both of ours are leather.
I personally like the second row seats and I will tell you why. If you get the bucket set-up from the front, you will automatically SEE your gas tank between the seats. If you get the 60/40 front seats you will see the gas tank when you fold down the arm rest. BUT....if you get the second row seat, the arm rest is made into the back. So when you fold it down, you still see a section of seat and it 100% hides that tank. As an added bonus of the second row seat, it will fold up and allow access to under-seat storage. (see attached pictures) As far as attaching it, a couple of the brackets will like up with factory holes. I had to drill new holes for most of the rear brackets. And because the floors are different, I had to install a spacer on the rear brackets to tilt the seat forward a little. Not a big deal. I hope this helps you in your decision.... Here are a few pics of mine from a '98 model:

Both sides lift up like that, but I don't have a pic of the driver's side open.

Do these seats still have a track that they slide on or are they fixed in position?
Thanks!

Second row seats are fixed position. But I don't need to slide mine anyway. They are against the back wall!!!!

Putter,
What seat belts are you using in the came? They have a factory look/fit at the floor.

I think they look awsome, but I dont know how I would like not being able to move the seat at all. Does the back recline at all?

How much deeper is the seat than the standard bench seat.. I put in a 5 speed and the shifter has already been modified to fit in front of the bench seat. Or should I ask, how far away from the firewall does it sit?

Those seats look great! How is the fit between the doors? Do the door panels touch the seat or is thier a gap. Love the flip up option.

Also do you think I would be able to lower the seat 2"? I need to chop 2" out of the bracket to compensate for my body drop. Would they still flip forward?

I paid $100 right here in CA. The NBS second row seats are 5X as much.

NBS=New Body Style / OBS=Old Body Style (GM produced the OBS and NBS at the same time for a couple of years, I think).
I got mine from LKQ dismantlers. I believe there is one up in your neck of the woods. www.lkqcorp.com

Well, I think my seats are in the middle....WHAT I WOULD CALL OBS seats are the 1988 thru 1994/1995. Those seats fit & mount the same, but are a tad more "SQUARE".
Hey Rokcrln, I do not see how you could trim 2" off the frame. The rear of the frame (where it latches shut) is sitting almost on the floor. I had thought about making mine shorter, but it would not be a light task. Also, they DO NOT touch the doors. They are about as close as you can get....look like they were made to go there. Jugernot, those are 1998 Suburban seatbelts (same as fullsize truck). Dick Dale, I mounted my belts. The passenger side simply mounted to the floor. The driver's side was a little tricky because the gas tank extends to the corner. I actually mounted it to the bottom of the seat frame. If the tank were gone, it also would mount to the floor. (I'll look for pics) Krue, the yard we talked about but didn't go to has them everyday!!! Tan, grey, maroon, etc... cloth or leather!

I am using buckets seats from a 2002 Silverado...they fit very nicely and have the integrated shoulder belt as a side benefit. They also have good range of adjustment. I am a 6'1" 250 pounder, they fit me easily with good leg room and yet my wife is 5"1" and they slide forward to fit her as well. I fitted them with the saddle tank in but right now I have it all stripped out as I am opting for installing a blazer tank instead, or I would post some pics. Having the saddle tank in or out really doesn't make much difference with these seats as they fit the floor pan at the same location. Of course you will need to drill new holes for the mounting rails. The only downside if you keep the saddle tank is you can see it. One option is to get a carpet kit to cover it or do like I am and get rid of it. I am also mounting a 2004 F150 center console in...fits perfectly between the Silverado seats...lots of options out there for sure. Scored my seats and the console off of eBay..

Putter~ (or anyone else) Do the second row seats sit any lower than the factory bench seats do. I fit the truck great with the stock bench but now with the body drop done I will need to ride 2" lower. Or would the front seats be better for this since they do not flip. As far as seeing thru the center consul when it is flipped down that is not a big deal to me. Thanks for the input.
