Need help with replacement panel on cab floor plz

Got my outer panel for the cab floor and started whacking away the old inside rocker, pillars and such. I'm very new to this and need to know what kind of fit to expect with these aftermarket parts. I got my panel from GMCPaul. I would like for yall to take a look at a few pics to see if my alignment is ok. Aligning my outer floor panel to all the grooves and bolt holes just isn't gonna work. But, I don't know if its the panel or the truck. I got the two grooves aligned between the panel and the cab floor, and the bolt holes are kinda off. I would think the grooves are the most import to keep the lines looking good. I can drill out the holes if need be. Also, where the front of the panel meets the firewall up by the kick panel, there is a gap that doesn't quiet look right. Again, panel or truck? Take a look at these pics and tell me what you think.

I know some of the gap is on the wide side, but hey, its my very first panel, hopefully I'll get better.

Thanks

Last few pics. Sorry for so many, just wanted to let you get the WHOLE picture:

Also, if some of the alignment looks off its because I didn't have it clamped, I was just holding with my hand. The small groove iin the floorboard is dead on, which makes the bolts holes off.

It's hard to see exactly whats up from the pics ,the really important thing is maintaining the overall door opening, tack some stuff together and try to fit up the rocker keep checking to make sure the door will fit in the hole right.I like to fit up a bunch of stuff before I weld anything home.

What he said, but try to maintain the door frame so the lower B-pillar doesn't droop away and you lose the door opening correctness.

10-4 and the door opening. But, how do these parts normally fit. Do they fit just about perfect, or is it common to have to make em fit sometimes?

I'd be thrilled if my junk lined up that nicely. You have nothing to worry about, line up the doors as stated and then weld away, make the holes align later.

Re: Need help with replacement panel on cab floor plz

I hope and wish stiney is correct. I just got in from work and stopped by tractor supply and bought some more clamps. I'll get a better feel for how this thing is going to fit in a bit. I finally get a few days off and low and behold its freakin 32 degrees and sleeting. Me and my little heater is gonna close in the garage tonight. I think it might even snow a little.

Thanks for the advice guys, I couldn't do it without you. I also got to get my build thread going.

Kevin,

That is a pretty good fit. Who did you buy that from? Just curious, I am about to undertake the same rust repair!

Thanks!

Re: Need help with replacement panel on cab floor plz

That firewall part fits like my total floor piece did. They made the floor part slope down on the outsides. Either cut it to fit there or cut the firewall to fit... The other parts don't look bad but like every said.. tack it and see how the door goes. Be sure to get the door perfect at the top and then try to place the rocker fit...

Those holes might not be perfect so don't use them as much of a guide...

Re: Need help with replacement panel on cab floor plz

BigBlockBrutus, the piece in the pic came from GMCPauls. I went with them because they support this forum. I'm very very pleased with the parts I got from them.

Good point you bring up Mike. Is the best place to start your alignment is from the top of the door? I assume you go by the top and then the rest of your cab that you didn't slaughter. That should still hold the basic shape of the door opening. Then tack and shape the rocker area as needed.

Me and my little heater got pretty close tonight. I have never seen snow like this in my life. I know it doesn't even compare to what you Northerner's get, but I've never seen anything like it. It's still snowing now at 1 in the morning. Thanks again guys
