Good Deal?

I found a 1977 GMC Sierra Classic K30 3+3 4x4 for $1600. It has a possible running 350, turbo 400, 203 TC, Dana 60 front 4.11, and 14 Bolt Rear 4.11. The owner told me that all it needs is the steering column installed and it should start with some help and tweaking. What do you guys think?

Not seeing it makes it hard to tell but right now with the economy it might be an "O.K." deal.
From my experiance if something needs just a little work the seller will have a hard time selling it.
So you should have the upper hand in buying it but I'm not a fan of buying something that doesn't run,
unless it is such a good deal that it wouldn't matter if the motor was blown or not.

Re: Good Deal?

If the gears are original the 77 K30's came with either 4.10 or 4.56 gears.

Re: Good Deal?

Just a Dana 60 front end with 4.56 gears will cost 1400.00 here in MO. I say it is a fair price.

Re: Good Deal?

Yup, a dana 60 front starts at a grand, I have seen thenm as high as $1500 if in good shape. I would still try to haggle if you can, but I say go for it.

Re: Good Deal?

then you could get around 500 for the motor too...
and the rest of the body (if it is straight) is worth a few bucks too
but i'd still lowball him a bit and offer say 1200 hundred because you really have no idea how much monies you will have to spend to get the truck running..
and WHY IN THE WORLD IS THE STEERING COLUMN MISSING!?
