Remodeled a bathroom
Over the past few weeks I remodeled a batrhoom in one of our rental houses. This bathroom was done very inexpensively a long time ago. It was time to do a little tenant proofing. The house is currently rented, but the college students were gone for the semester break.
I didn't have time to do all of it. I hired out the window, tub surround, and plumbing of the shower faucet. I replaced the sheetrock behind the tub surround and waterproofed it. I painted everything. I replaced the sink and toilet. I added a vent to get the moisture out. I rewired the light swtich and added an outlet; the old light switch was behind the door. I also replaced a lot of the subfloor and tiled it. The tile is similar to Duracermic. The big difference is that it is peel and stick. I used Duracermic grout. It looks very nice, and is great to walk on. Here are the before pictures.

Re: Remodeled a bathroom
New bathroom!!
It was tough working in here; it's a tiny bathroom! I turned around too fast once and knocked myself out. Thankfully I came too as soon as my face hit the cold toilet water. Too bad those boys hadn't cleaned that toilet in seven months.

Re: Remodeled a bathroom
I should add - special thanks goes out to 68c15. He was in town and stopped by and helped my with the wiring. I hate working in attics, it's so dusty and dirty. Todd helped my run the wires and saved me a ton of time, and a ton of going up and down the ladder. The wiring was one of those jobs where having two people makes the job take 1/3 of the time.

Nice!
You do good work. Now you're gonna have to raise their rent.

Re: Remodeled a bathroom
Good looking remodel ,,and you know what? The greatest improvement you did was
what you did with the window as the windows in 90% of bath rooms that are behind the tub cause dry rot and ruin the wall around them .. I know this because I have replaced more than I can count . By redoing the window flush and water tight and not let the water set on a sill and find it's way into the framing and sheetrock ,or any wall board is the key to stopping water damage to most bathrooms around a tub shower.. Nice before and after pictures ,, being an old retired carpenter I still like to see good work done . Larry |
