'Fall Grand Run' car show

I was reading about a car show in Pigeon Forge TN called the 'Fall Grand Run'. Is it a big deal? Has anyone been that might be familiar w/the times & particulars?

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
It's like a highly skilled Morrocan sword fighter with a Damascus Steel Scimitar.....

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.

Re: 'Fall Grand Run' car show

It is big, lots of cool cars and trucks and plenty of stuff for the family to do.
Here is a link to PF's website that has more info. http://www.insidepigeonforge.com/car...-run-car-show/

Re: 'Fall Grand Run' car show

I've been to the fall grand run a couple of times, and yes, it's big, lol. It's similar to cruisin the coast in Biloxi, Miss., if you've been to it, but the grand run is probably a little bigger, or at least more compact. Pigeon Forge is awesome too, but expensive.

Re: 'Fall Grand Run' car show

I'll be there for a Pro-Touring group get together called RTTH (Run Through The Hills). Some pretty decent old cars w/some serious road carving abilities.
Should be able to do both shows. Do you guys know what time things 'end' each night?

Re: 'Fall Grand Run' car show

I've gone for the last 6 years to get ideas see some cool trucks and cars and now my truck is in pieces in the shop being gone through stem to stern so maybe next year it can go too. It is a big event not just in the grand on th-fri-sat but from thursday on you can watch some of the vehicles come in and then by friday you can't go anywhere its so buisy. I wish they would block off at least one lane for the hotrods to cruise. I've met alot of interesting people from all over the state. Its fun.

I agree. Knowing the back roads helps, but I usually take a bike and just park the truck near the Grand on friday/saturday. I've seen it take people 2-3 hours to get from 40 into Pigeon Forge, and that's with 6 lanes running through town.

Re: 'Fall Grand Run' car show

My wife and I were there this past spring... MAN what a bunch of cars / trucks / rods, etc... We had planned on going back with the lowrider this fall, but it's not road worthy yet.

So, we'll have to wait till the spring.

Re: 'Fall Grand Run' car show

Well I can tell you there car count is hurting I think because of the previous post about the younger croud causing issues with thinking its a mardigrau event. If you want to see a bunch of kids in desiel truck hotrod around and yell and teenage girls with shorts so short a preacher would blush then its just the place to go. It seems like its not about the cars crusing anymore and the cops let the kids blow black smoke and hang out of the back of trucks but let a hot rod rev it up and they get a ticket. Pretty Sad... I have pics of actual cars I will post later.

Re: 'Fall Grand Run' car show

I enjoyed the RTTH's event & plan to return this year. Very beautiful country. The Fall Grand Run show (during the days we were there) seemed more about selling old/used cars than about the cars themselves. It was like going to a 10mile long car lot.

BTW..... The TN law enforcement (particularly the Hwy Patrol) were nice enough to stop & introduce themselves as I both entered & left the state . They must love Texans.

We drove the Collectors Edition 2002 T/A. If you saw the guy w/hair past his arse in a pony-tail around the bright yellow T/A..... that was me .

I went to the event because I love the idea of 'car shows' w/track time. Good Guiys won't let my other car in (79 Malibu) so I've been seeking other venues to try. Of course..... the car isn't done; but it's good to see what you'll be competing against. RTTH's was perfect as it allowed many people to mingle & get to know one another (& put a face to a computer personality). We actually sat w/Bill & his super nice wife @ the dinner-drive restaurant. I'm also scoti on PT.com (lateral-g as well).

Maybe we will see you at RTTHV. I will be driving the rat rod looking 68 Camaro. I was in a 07 Black Suburban LTZ this past year. My wife was helping cook lunch at the autocross.

She did a fine job then. Food was great..... just needed more shade to eat under (or more tables/chairs under the awnings). We'll look for you there in 09!

Trav,

We've had reservations in PF at the same cabin we were in last year for the past 5 months. We're gonna miss most of the spring rod run traffic since we won't be there till the April 14th. Our 26th anniv is the 15th and we'll be there till Sunday.

I'll PM my cell phone to ya later. Maybe we can get some people together and cruise up the Mt over the weekend or head down to Maggie for a day.

I'm bringing the '87.

Kenny
