wobbley flywheel
i just put my goodwrench 350 back in and have driven it for about 3 weeks now. i notice that under acceleration, there is a faint rattling sound from the motor. i got under the truck and noticed that the flywheel was wobbling a bit but the converter was fine. is it common for a flyweel to warp? what kind of damage could this be doing?

couild be the bolts holding flywheel to crank loosened up// maybe not enough thread lock was used on the bolts

If it is not loose bolts it could be cracked flywheel (not good). I wouldn't let it go it is not going to cure itself!!!

check the converter bolts... more likely to be converter bolts than flexplate to crank bolts.

If it is NOT loose bolts on either, it almost certainly is a cracked flex plate and this is not good for the autotrans. If cracked, probably near or between the purpose holes. This wobble soon would cause wear and then shavings in the trans - pump will send them throughout - then a trans rebuild may be in order. Get a good light and check for cracks - and if cracked, drive as little as possible until you replace it. There is a heavier duty version of the flex plate - I put one in but do not remember the designation. Good luck.

FYI,manuals use flywheels and automatics use flexplates.I`d suspect loose convertor bolts most likely and flexplate bolts next considering the recent install.If they are tight,pull the trans and check the flexplate.

i plan on droping the transmission and running the motor and checking the flexplate by its self. i will keep yall posted.
