Starting on my '70 K20
I started tearing down my '70 K20 last weekend. I wanted to post some pics for you guys to watch. I really enjoy when other people post pics of their build. At this stage I just want to get at the frame and clean it up. I am planning to swap most of the driveline out of my '70 GMC and the bed off it also. I also picked up a pretty decent cab I'll put on.
I can't wait for the snow to melt to get all the extra junk out of my garage |

Looks like a great start. The first thing I take off the truck is the bumper. It's neat to see how other people disasemble there trucks and what stays on. Keep the pic's coming.

Re: Starting on my '70 K20
I haven't posted on this build in a long time but I have made some progress.
I sandblasted the frame and painted with Zero-Rust, rebuilt the front axle and brakes, installed new brake lines, new exhaust, cleaned and painted engine and had the tranny overhauled. That took most of a year with my limited time (wife has me rebuilding the house too!) For the last 4 months I've been doing the body work. Had to replace rockers, floor, kick panels, supports, cab corners and swapped in an AC dash. Got the front fenders, doors, and inner fenders all straight. I just need to finish the hood and bed and should be able to start painting the jambs and assembling. Here's a few pics of my limited progress |

Re: Starting on my '70 K20
Still plugging away at it. Finally got some color. I could have spent another winter with fit and finish but I really want to drive this next summer. I just painted front half this weekend although I did the jambs earlier.
I still have the whole bed to rework this winter. Here's some pics. Came out good, but there are a few flaws I hope to buff out Friday. |

Re: Still working on it
I took a break from the project for awhile but I recently painted the bed and I can now drive it in and out of the garage.
A buddy of mine has had a GMC OEM grille hanging in his shop for years, it even had the packing slip taped to it. I finally was able to get it from him. Here's some pics of the truck and grille. |
