Shock Relocaters

Just got myself a 1968 c10 lwb. In the spring I plan on doing alot of suspension work. I want to lower it with Brothers stage two Lowering kit. With 3" front drop springs and 4" rear drop springs. Will I have to use both front and rear shock relocaters or is that not necessary? Or will I run in to any other problems by going with that drop. Any pictures of a 3/4 drop would be great too.

You will need shorter drop shocks and a front end alignment.

Oh yeah I forgot to add the shocks - they are included in the kit. Will i need the shock relocaters or no ?

I dont recommend the shocks from brothers. Mine lasted less than i year and the truck was driven less than 500 miles. There are much better companys than brothers. There stuff costs a little less but you dont save any when you have to do everything twice.

yes to using rear shock relocators not sure about fronts// i've always went with KBY shocks very good quality

I made new upper and lower mounts that stand the shocks up closer to vertical and put the lower mount on the bottom of the plate. This allowed me to use stock length shocks.

If they are selling it as a kit, I doubt it needs a shock relocation kit.
Although more often companies will sell stuff that will technically work just to sell a cheaper setup, but upgrading for improvement is always an option. Adding shock re-locators to improve shock angles on a lowered truck shouldn't hurt.
But I'm thinking the shocks included in the kit will be to short for shock re-locators anyway?

The shocks you mentioned are made Doestech(sp) and are a really good quality shock, and if they lasted less than a year and the 500 miles you stated, you could have simply called Brothers with your receipt and got a replacement for it for FREE!


Now to what has been asked...
Yes I would use the relocator in the rear for sure and front since you are dropping using all spring.

I Noticed the Brothers kit doesn't come with the shock relocater kit. But the EcE kit does. Now i dont know what to do, which kit. Also not sure which drop to go with 2/4 or a 3/4. Any suggestions.

I would buy the 2"/4" kit. I would also suggest purchasing the kit from Early Classics with the shock relocators and the KYB shocks. They give a nice ride.

My reasons for these suggestion are as follows:

* A 3" front drop using springs alone will limit suspension travel and you will hit the factory bumpstops often.

* The shock relocators are not neccesary for a 4" drop but you will feel a noticable ride improvement with the shock positioned at a better angle.

* ECE's lowering springs are still rated to carry a load. I like to still be able to use my truck as a truck (within reason).

* ECE's kits are very complete with all hardware and they have the best customer service, period!

Brothers springs are progressive weight as well. The more you put on them the harder they push back. I have Brothers springs and shocks in my truck and they work great. I have 4" springs and 1.5" blocks in the rear and can still haul what I need(no rock, dirt ect) but furniture and other normal household items are fine....

ECE wants 112 dollars for shipping holy nuts. Brothers wants 48 bucks whats up with that ?

I don't know how quickly ECE ships stuff out, or what they keep in stock, but if you buy from Brothers make sure they have it in stock, or you could be waiting a looooong time. The lower price on shipping tells me they are probably going to have it drop shipped from the manufacturer.

If that is the price that there web site says i would be willing to bet that it will be higher after you order. I suggest you call them and get a real shipping price.
