Door Weatherstripping
I have door weatherstripping for 56 chev pick up. There were no instructions. Any tips? Whre should the joint be? Do I need any silicone?

The joint goes at the bottom of the door. I've read posts that recommend taping it on with painters tape and close the doors for a week to pre squash the gasket. One guy used a ratchet strap between the doors to pull them in. GENTLY!!! Some brands are tighter than others.

There should be a screw on lip that holds the bottom in place. Its about 24" long. There is also a clip near the door handle to clip that part into place. The rubber should snap into place without a whole lot of trouble unless you got the rubber without the pegs.

No silicone, 3-m super weather stripe adhesive, (get it in black not yellow) if you didn't get the rubber with the pegs.

Mine, original never touched until I removed it, had the clips shown below at the corners and two up higher. If there was any kind of bar at the bottom it was completely rusted away or had been taken off. Steal your wifes clothespins or use binder clips to hold it in place while the snot dries.
