Cool '61 SWB

I just picked up this mag tonight since it had this cool '61 in it. It's not often you see a 409 in one of these trucks. Check it out.......

Pretty slick alright. More like that would make me get the subscription! Wish mine was that clean though.

Re: Cool '61 SWB

several years ago my neighbor down the road bought a really clean good runnin '66 malibu & it had a 409 in it. he thought it was a 396 like the fender emblems said. when he found out it wasn't he pulled it out & had another engine installed. his buds told him it was "an old dump truck engine". one day i was at his house returning his horse & he asked if i wanted "that old engine" laying in the mud upside down. being the proud owner of over a dozen "old engines" and not wanting to get dirty or fool with it or even ask what it was i said "naw, i gotta nuff old engines". it went to the scrap yard that next week. crap.

Re: Cool '61 SWB

About 25 years ago I had the chance to buy a 425hp dual quad 409 complete for $500.00. I was tempted, but I didn't have $500.00 to spare at the time.....plus I thought to myself 'what the heck would I put that in'
