Gas cap doesn't fit?!

My '73 K20 came with a leaky gas cap. I ordered a new one from LMC. Specifically, the one on this page that says it's for a 73-74 3/4 ton without california emissions. That's what my truck is.
http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/cc/full.aspx?Page=136

Why doesn't the new cap I got fit?! it's clearly much smaller than the old cap, and simply won't lock onto my filler hole. Did they send me the wrong cap? Do I have the wrong filler neck? WTF?!

The cap with the red gasket is the old one.

You can set my truck on fire and roll it down a hill,
and I still wouldn't trade it for a Coupe de Ville.

Is that what the green plastic thing is? Damnit...I was very specific in ordering the NON california version! It cost twice as much as the one I bought anyway!
