PRNDL won't shift (cable broke?)

JUst drove in to my driveway and can't shift into any gear. PRNDL is really loose. Is replacing the cable a big deal or not too bad? Will have to lay in the snow to do it so I don't want to get into something that's too big for snow and cold.

Thanks

Re: PRNDL won't shift (cable broke?)

Oops just read it over..

What year?

Should be just the rod that goes to your trans, should be a plastic piece in the side of the frame that holds the linkage and then a 13mm bolt to actually attach it to the arm on the trans.

Re: PRNDL won't shift (cable broke?)

Sorry-1998 Suburban 4x4. Good news though, went under the beast, snow on ground and slush dropping on my face. Turns out, the cable had come off the selector on the transmission. Just clicked it back on and it's fine. Seems odd there's nothing holding on (no pin or snap rin).

Thanks for the reply.
