Re: Last shuttle launch

I'm still pissed that they did not retire one of the spacecraft's to Houston. I really wish someone could explain to me why the Space Museum in New York City, or the California Science Center should have one over NASA in Houston.

We get a flight simulator. I suppose the good news is that we can board it. So did Houston get anything? It's crazy all of the structures that were mandated to be built prior to selection.

there's been a lot of complaining that the Niel Armstrong Space Musium here in Ohio didn't get one either.

Re: Last shuttle launch

I thought there was one more after this one.

Utah was trying to get one of them too, since the solid motors are built here.

Yeah, last one for Endeavour, one more after that ... looking it up.

Atlantis end of June is the very last one.

Re: Last shuttle launch

interesting, they used to spend as much for a toilet seat as I pay for a house and now their budget matches the one I have for my truck. LOL

you have to admit though. the space shuttle design worked pretty darn good for a long time. I can't wait to see what the other countries come up with. (top that!!)

edit;
oh, I know!!!!
why not dust off those alien crafts we have stored hidden away and use them? I hear they do not run on a "conventional" fuel so operating costs would be low.

Re: Last shuttle launch

Living in central Fl.for almost 25yrs Shuttle launchs get to be just a routine thing.Back a few years ago when it seemed like they were sending one into space every 6-8 weeks it got to be no big deal.Half the time we didnt even know that there was going to be a launch,until you looked to the east and saw the fire from the solid rocket boosters and the smoke trail.Now that the shuttle program is coming to an end it makes me stop and think how fortunate I am to have seen so many launches,and how truely amazing it is.Wont be heading to the coast with the crowds,but I will step outside in the front yard to watch.Hopefully the last one in June will be a night launch,those are truely amazing to see.
