Gage cluster restoration
Okay guys (and occasional gals)...I have recently acquired a gauge cluster (with actual gauges, not warning lights) that I would like to restore. I'm purchasing a used bezel and a new lens, but the actual gauges need some help. The black paint on them has faded along with the white markings. I know you can buy the white face decals, but I want black ones so they look like the originals. I remember someone on here saying that they bought some of these decals, but I don't remember where. I've already scoured the FAQ and EBay.

Re: Gage cluster restoration
Here's some pics. The overlay has white lettering. I believe the originals were white too, it's just the glass that has light green lettering. Now I just have to hook the speedo back up. Wouldn't you know, I drop in a 5-speed and everything snowballs. I try to install Cable X only to find out that I need a connector for the VSS. Oh well. I found it, now I just gotta go get it. At least it will be accurate now!

Re: Gage cluster restoration
Looks good! did you do the entire set? The originals actually have a light green tint on them but unless you're going for a 100% stock resto that wouldn't matter....and at that point it'd make more sense to find nicer gauges than to use an overlay anyways
![]() Nice job!

Re: Gage cluster restoration
Thanks for the compliment. Yep. I did all of them. I was recently thinking about going with the Dakota Digital gauges, but I just can't force myself to cough up the cash. I've got it, but it hurts a little to leave my wallet.
