Adding/Installing trim to a truck that doesn't have it
Hello,
I would really like to add this type of trim to do a two tone on my truck, but my 68 did not have this trim. Now, i would love to put this trim on, but of course i don't have the holes for it, how hard would it be to add this on? The thought of getting it lined up perfectly and drilling holes is spinning my noodle in circles.. ![]()

I'm also curious on this cause I plan to do it to mine whenever I get to that point in 2015.

Re: Adding/Installing trim to a truck that doesn't have it
I would like to know also. I plan on getting my truck painted and then adding the trim when I can afford it. Another question...Did our trucks only come with the upper thin trim? Or did it only come as a combination of both? I plan on only installing the upper trim and leaving off the lower trim. It will be a solid color so I will not be covering up a paint line.

Re: Adding/Installing trim to a truck that doesn't have it
I've never done it but i would think I've got a good idea on how to do it. Take all your trim and tape it on your truck.with masking tape (trying to keep it as straight as possible) once you have it where you want it or it should be. Take a pen and run down the edge of the trim so you have the outline of the.trim marked on the.truck. than take the mounting hardware and put it in the track in the trim and measure where the center is in reference to how you ran the pen down the trim. Transfer that to the truck and drill your holes. Buy a trim pacage for a 69. Dnt know if they're different that's just what i have and i know its a stud and nut type fastner. Hope that helps. Its kind of hard to explain in words lol

Re: Adding/Installing trim to a truck that doesn't have it
I wonder if the assembly manual talks about this, i'm going to check and see. If I find any useful information I will pass it on. Drilling the holes is not a biggie but you want to put them in the right place.

They made alot of that trim that just used double side 3M tape, so there was no holes in the truck.

I scanned some pages from the assembly manual, send me a pm with your email and I'll be happy to send them to you.
