This is a truck rod with a Mazda diesel engine, that gets 52 MPG. The milk cans in the back are the fuel tanks.

Re: Pics Thread: Truck Rods!

The truck with the park bench behind it in post #8 was built by a guy I know that owned a body shop here in des moines called TED'S that his son in law now owns. That pic is from the GoodGuys Heartland Rod and Nationals in Des Moines. I believe he also built the orange car parked behind it. And in post #12 the brown "Buzzin 1/2 Duzzin" was lettered by a guy named Victor out of Bridgewater Iowa. Whenever we can get together he is going to help me hone in my lettering skills. Both men very talented at what they do.

Re: Pics Thread: Truck Rods!

That was a nice period truck there,Slomo. There's new trend in truck rods these days with an emphasis on funky, which is ok. But,I take my trucks more serious and like the old ways better. Most of them you can still use. They made them hot but they are still trucks.

As I sop up the drool on my shirt, I think about wanting to build another one of these. My trouble is I can only adopt one at a time, and the dually would have to head down the road.....not sure I'm ready for that.
Thanks Special K for complicating my life!
