Re: How do I clean these babies up!?

Ya I needa find something too. Wish I had a nice DA. All I have is a 4.5 angle grinder and 5" random orbital for my woodworking

Tried 80 grit flapper for the angle. Eats paint instantly, think it's too rough, then clogs, wears out really fast for how much they cost. Saw something at Lowes the other day I wanna try. Its like a sanding disc sheet, that goes on a backer for an angle grinder, so you can hold it flat sorta like a DA. Another thing I saw is gator had an aluminum oxide fiber disc for 4 1/2 grinders. I'ma try both of those.

Yeah, 80 is what you need then afterwards get some 220 grit and goback over it. This is an important step that a lot of people leave out but it makes a huge difference in how the primer laysout when applied. After the 220 grit wipe it down with wax and grease remover. Why wipe it down some have asked ? They say I have sanded everthing off. Well if they want to be that stubborn ok. I would strongly suggest that you wipe it down with a wax-grease remover like DX 330 that is what I use. After wiping down let her air dry. Then put 2-3 coats of a good Epoxy primer I use the PPG DPLF but there are many. After drying time you then can do your bodywork over the top of the e-prime. then you need a 2-3 coat shot of high-build primer then block sand and your ready to go.

Re: How do I clean these babies up!?

Im doing the same thing but i went to home depot and bought a few of the paint and rust remover wheels that you put on an angle grinder and they work great. The problem i know have is what to use for primer on the bare metal since i dont have an air compressor i have to use the cans. Any ideas?

Re: How do I clean these babies up!?

I have not found any epoxy primer in spray can but I have found some ecthing primer ans high build as well. The high build in a can works good in a tightor where you don't want to tape a whole side to do a spot the size of a finger. The mp182 primer I use is brushable as well if you wanted to try that. Now on the ecthing primer Like UI've said a bunch that I feel epoxy is better and I do but you could use the canned ecthing primer if needed
