new pinion and output seals. Help!
I plan on replacing both pinion and both output seals. But i am pretty worried about two things:
1. How tight do I get the nuts on pinion/outputs? Some say mark where it is now and put itt back there, others say torque it. I'm really worried about over or under tightening it... Which do i do?? 2. When I put the seals in, how do i know how far to hammer them in? Posted via Mobile Device

Re: new pinion and output seals. Help!
Mark the pinion shaft and nut, Remove nut/yolk and replace seal. Reinstall nut and just go past the marks you made. That keeps the preload correct. Torquing the nut is not how its done. The seal will only go in so far if theres a lip, if not then flush.
Output seal? do you mean axle seals?

No, by output I meant the seals behind the yolks on the transfer. The seals that are alike the pinions. Should I tighten the nut on those yolks the same way?
