Where to buy Blasting Media?
Just got a blasting cabinet and was wondering what type of media is the best to use. And who sells media?

Re: Where to buy Blasting Media?
Check out Eastwood's web site.
I bought mine at Princess Auto, which is the Canadian version of Harbour Freight. They have all different types and it depends what you are blasting. I'm doing mostly steel brackets, etc and picked up the Aluminum Oxide. It is supposed to last longer and no silica to worry about!

Re: Where to buy Blasting Media?
That's because it cause's a disease called "Silicosis" You need a damn good resperiator. If you damage your lungs it's ireversible you can't be cured. It would take a New set of Lungs to fix the problem

Re: Where to buy Blasting Media?
yes dear. :-)
I do have a damn good resperator and I also use it very very carefully in fully ventilated work station. But I do use it for media blasting because it works well.

Re: Where to buy Blasting Media?
Check into some plastic, it is supposed to last a long timeand the dust is way down, not a huge deal in a cabinet but some so that you can see in the window.

Re: Where to buy Blasting Media?
Does anybody use that Black Diamond media that TSC sells? It is supposed to be low free silica and low in dust. On top of that it is only $8 for a 50lb bag.

Re: Where to buy Blasting Media?
i dont like using sand in my cabinet cause it is very dusty makin seeing what i'm blasting dificult add to that it does not stay sharp long // i use a carbide based black stuff that i found from a local supplier i found by googeling it up on the computer// have used very similar stuff from harbor frieght but thier price was hi and it did not last that long // 100lbs of that black stuff cost me about $80 but i can do well over a hundred manifolds and loads of brackets and wheels and it still cuts good i usually get new stuff every 18months or so
i've never needed to use a respirator when using my cabinet as i have a hiquality well sealed unit with an excellent exhaust systen and i get no fumes or dust in the shop area
