HD coil shock suggestions?
I am looking to purchase some new shocks some time in the near future, I had a few questions about what I am looking at.. I favor O'reillys because it is 2 blocks from my house
My pickup is a c20 3/4 ton with coil springs, on the plaque in the glovebox it says HD Coil Springs. I am looking to spend a little bit of money, but not trying to break the bank, something $40-60 a corner is what i'm looking for. Being a 3/4 ton I do plan on some occasional hauling, but a smooth ride is also what I am looking for. A good friend of mine suggested monroe sensatracs.. but on the part desicrption it says it's for coil spring suspension but "without heavy duty suspension" I was also looking into the load-adjusting coil-over sensa-tracs from monroe but they also say "without heavy duty suspension" I just looks to me like all the good shocks say "without heavy duty suspension" on them. I read on here that KYB's are decent? I'm looking for something heavy duty, but comfortable. Thank you all!

Re: HD coil shock suggestions?
Are you just looking to do the shocks. Or are you going to do the springs also? I am not much help on shocks. I do like Rancho, but those are over your 40-60 range. I haven't had any bad luck out of Monroe's. Ran those on a few trucks. Right now I run air shocks cause that was what came on it for the rear. Ride's out fine, but I am not doing any towing...lol Good luck on your search. I am sure someone has some good advice on here.

Re: HD coil shock suggestions?
What I am hung up on is the fact my truck says HD coil suspension, and a lot of the shocks i am looking at say "Without HD suspension" What exactly constitutes HD suspension on the coil set up? is it going to hurt anything if i put the ones that say "without HD suspenion" on my truck with HD suspension?

Re: HD coil shock suggestions?
The coils are thicker and should have a couple more coils to it. Heavy duty springs was designed for heavy hauling or heavy towing. Pretty much, your truck sits higher than a truck with out HD coil springs. I wouldn't recommend putting shocks on that aren't the heavy duty version. They will be extended too far, if they would mount up. Causing you to blow out your shock most likely going over a bump by it not having enough travel upwards. Check out some of the sites that sell our truck parts. I know Brothers is doing a sale on some part's, not sure if they have or this would include shocks.
I been checking out new coil springs on LMC lately, mine are collapsed. I though about doing HD ones on the rear cause they are on the front from having a big block in it. But, the non HD's should put mine at the ride height I want.

Re: HD coil shock suggestions?
BTW, check out the promo codes thread. You might be able to find a few sites thru there and get a discount. If it calls for HD, got for HD. Better to do it the right way the first time.

Re: HD coil shock suggestions?
My springs appear to be fine, I am not looking to do my springs just yet. Just trying to replace the shocks right now. It just looks to me like all of the shocks that are going to help smooth out your ride or beef it up a little aren't supposed to be used on my pickup because they all say "without HD springs" I haven't found one that says to use with HD springs, they either say for coil springs, for leaf springs, or coil springs "without HD springs"
This is what i am looking at.. http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/se...make=Chevrolet

Re: HD coil shock suggestions?
I use LMC as a guide for a lot of things. I would say, as long as you get ones that don't say With out HD Suspension, you should be good.
