Re: making a extended cab?
those were proably made by a outfit company. I know they did them with square bodies. They would use a long wheel bed frame, put a short bed on and fill the differnece with an extended cab.

Re: making a extended cab?
I saw a square years ago that was done that way.
** it was a long bed modified. they cut the rear cab cap off thru the "b" panel then cut a 1.5' slice out of the bed in front of the wheel well the front of the bed was welded back on to the bed, and the bed slice was used as the side of the extended cab. sheet metal was used as filler for the top and window areas and to close in the floor. Simple enough in principal, but a ton of work, no doubt. good info here about the squares, the approach on a 67-72 would be similar. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=365878 ** i was looking at it for a repair bid b/c there was a massive amt of bondo used in the fairing of all this cutting and welding and it was cracking and rusting underneath.. pretty sure it was a "conversion" custom truck, it was decal striped up like the custom vans of the day with a velour and wood trimmed interior. Except for the body work failing- it was actually pretty nice. Last edited by primrrd; 11-28-2012 at 01:05 AM. Reason: more info |

I like how the extended side glass looks like it flows real well with the rest of the truck. Posted via Mobile Device
