Vacuum port on intake manifold
I managed to break a port off my intake manifold vacuum fitting.
I have an 86 truck with an automatic transmission. The fitting has a port for the main vacuum line and a port on the top for the automatic transmission, and another port that was unused. I have tried to find this part everywhere and the best I can find is a corvette site that shows a similar part for around $25 before shipping. Does anyone know where I can find this part? TIA Jason |

Re: Vacuum port on intake manifold
Go to the hardware store and get a pipe to hose barb adapter.
Specifically, a brass 3/8" male NPT to 1/4" hose barb. The 3/8 NPT screws into the manifold and the end of the modulator tubing fits into the ID of the hose barb. Use a short section of rubber hose to connect the OD of the hose barb to the ridge on the actuating line. |

Re: Vacuum port on intake manifold
go to the help section of any autozone or auto parts store, they sell them in many configurations of ports and threads

Re: Vacuum port on intake manifold
Are you looking for a ported vacuum switch?
OReilly's or Advance should have them. If you can find anyone at those places that knows $hit from Shinola |

Re: Vacuum port on intake manifold
No..not the vacuum switch.
This part is on the back half of the intake between the carb and the distributor. It has a line that runs to the transmission and another to the main vacuum hose. I am likely to go to Lowes and use brass fittings to build a new one that will work. |

Re: Vacuum port on intake manifold
That is the piece...except mine has a 1/4" or so port on the side that goes to the main vacuum line and another 1/8" port that I had plugged off.
I broke the small port off trying to get it out of the intake. It looks like it is aluminum and mine was already somewhat malformed and bent so I decided to replace it instead of trying to fix it. I didn't know they may not be a common part. |

This is the closest replacement part to the original I can find. The price of these parts is a little high. |

Re: Vacuum port on intake manifold
Try a pick and pull... Fittings here from one would be $3.00. Probably cost you more in gas to drive there but most all Carb'd/Auto Trans chevy's will have the one you need.
