Anyone watch Crash Kings?
I think that's what it's called. It's a Demolition Derby reality show that is set mostly in the small towns of Heber, Kamas, and Coalville, where I live. Truth is, I don't get the Velocity Channel, so I've only seen snippets of it when I'm at my kid's place or a friend who might have it. At any rate, the Coalville derby was tonight. Demo derby is past it's glory days, but it still is the only event at our County Fair that sells out, generally within days of the tickets going on sale in May.
![]() They've gone to a flying start, with the cars circling around when the flag drops. This year, they added a mini class, and the class of the mini class was this Pinto! It was unstoppable. ![]() And a truck heat. This 'Burb won that: ![]() I hope they can build on these new classes. I think it's the future of the event. there's just not enough good full-sized derby cars left out there anymore. The minis put on a good show, as did the trucks. Since I've lived in this town, 41 years, I've been to 39 derbies. My youngest kid picked derby day to be born on, and a couple years ago the local blues fest was on the same day and I went to that instead. Maybe this TV show will bring the interest back up. And if my kid's POS truck is still sitting in my yard this time next year, it just might make the show ![]()
