Trans question

So the engine in my truck is a 383 striker. The trans is a turbo 350 3 speed. Just recently I have noticed after driving for about 20 min the truck sounds and feels like it is stuck in 2nd gear. The linkage is set up fine, the fluid is correct and the kick down cable is all set. At some points it feels as if the clutch was not catching letting me rev and then go around 20 mph. This dose not happen all the time though. Any ideas would be great. Any chance the bumps in the road woul make the trans slip or stay in 2nd? And woul my steering colum have anything to do with it since my indicators aren't exactly lined up? Thanks going to see a trans guy in the morning but wanted the guys imput here.
