72 vs 73 Rear Shock Difference??
Im ordering new shocks and would prefer Bilsteins for my 72 K20, unfortunately they only offer 1 type and its only for the front. However, on summit racing for the 73-87 trucks they have both front and rear Bilstein 4600's. I checked part numbers between 4 shocks from KYB and Monroe on there site, both with the same part numbers between the two generations.
My question is, is there any reason for me not to get the 73+ shocks, they would bolt right on, there cant be that big of an issue with ride height because two other companies have the same part between the different years. What are your thoughts? |

Re: 72 vs 73 Rear Shock Difference??
don't know about your specific application, but did the shocks on my sister's '85 chev van, parts store wanted $65 per shock. after checking, they were the same as what was on my '68 gmc, back to the parts store-$28 per shock. why? don't know, they matched almost perfectly ('68 had about a half inch more stroke)
you should have no problem using '73-up shocks |
