transfer case mounting cushions

bought prothane cushions for my 61with the 221 t/f case. the sleeves id is bigger 5/8" not 1/2"---so just use bigger 5/8" bolts? how about 5/8" cap bolts (allen head)? box reads years 60-72. the one hole in the top of the x-member would have to opened up to fit a socket on the bolt head (thus the cap bolt). i also have 2 spacers that go on top of the mounting bracket.--stock? would have to be drilled also. thick cushions on top i would think? (my old ones were home made)

so what have you guys done?

Re: transfer case mounting cushions

Absolutely nothing wrong with opening up holes for larger bolts.I would use grade 8 fasteners.Thick bushing between transfer mount and xmbr. Thin on top.

Up to you which way you want to go, but if you don't feel like drilling, you can probably get a pair of reducer bushings to slide inside the ones you have. I'd think you could probably get some for under $10. They're designed to drop down the I.D. of what you have. So you could find some that had an O.D. of 5/8 and I.D. of 1/2. Just push them in, and you should be all set.

Just an idea.

Maybe the ones from LMC will have you in good shape and you wont' need to do anything except install.

Good luck with it.

You could call Wes at Classic Heartbeat, he builds these trucks as well as selling parts, he would probably have an insight to your problem, worth a shot.
