Burb 3rd Seat Question
I found this Burb for sale and it shows an option for a rear seat on the spid. Now I'm thinking Burbs would have come with the first 2 bench seats standard and when the spid says rear seat that is for the 3rd row seat, right? Now if that is the 2nd row seat would be a full length bench like the front seat and if that is the case when the rear seat option is ordered then the 3rd seat would be full length and the 2nd seat shorter so people could access the back seat, right? Oh yea, its a Custom/Deluxe if that makes a difference.

Re: Burb 3rd Seat Question
My SPID says "rear seat" also but only has front and middle. It never had a third seat.
Perhaps we need a SPID thread like the others. I did a search and it seems A80 is for second and third seat equipped. And there some question if there is a difference between A53 and AS3 codes for a the middle seat. ![]()

The only thing I can tell you is that if they had the 3rd seat the 2nd seat would have been the 3/4 width seat instead of the full width one. LockDoc

Re: Burb 3rd Seat Question
I myself feel that if there were a 3rd row, then the second row would be the 3/4 bench. How else is one to get to the 3rd row, climb over the 2nd to get to the 3rd? Funny for children, but ridiculous for adults.

Re: Burb 3rd Seat Question
Greg, That Sub has an AS3 center and only rear seat, thus 58-3/4" wide.
The pair of A80 seats were 50". In mine, I never had the second rear seat (gone, but an A80 truck) but that pass through was nice to have when I had my foam bed in back. Go by the codes and look for the holes.

Re: Burb 3rd Seat Question
Not my SPID, I took it from another thread. However, the A53 option I've seen on other websites must be a misprint.

Re: Burb 3rd Seat Question
Do you have a Suburban SPID with a code A53 on it? I'm thinking it is a trim code (as A52 is) inclusive of the rear/center seat. If you look even the Blazer rear seat RPO code is AS3.

Re: Burb 3rd Seat Question
The idea of a Sub and Panel SPID thread sounds good. DeadheadNM started one up in the Blazer section for me. If one of you has some time and wants to research to make sure it isn't already a running thread, please start one. That way I can have all three coming to me on subscription and in my signature. :-)

Re: Burb 3rd Seat Question
Of all of the aftermarket parts that I see available, the one thing I don't see is seats. Does anyone manufacture replacement seats for our Burbs? I am certian that the seats (at least the second row) in my vehicle are from some other truck. I see plenty of replacement covers, but not the seats themselves, and thus I imagine finding originals is VERY difficult.
Thanks

Re: Burb 3rd Seat Question
67-72 Suburban seats are tough to come by.
Especially 67-68, though 69-72 work just fine. I see burb benches come up for sale from time to time on Craigslist, and the prices range from reasonable to sky high. Lucky for you, you can order off the shelf OE style covers in your YOM. Lots of people get a hold of late model truck seats and make them work in the Suburban, and they do look very nice when they are mounted correctly.
