98 Suburban brake issue, HELP!
Ok like mentioned, its a 98 K1500 suburban, The brakes are really shady. I mean, if you ever had to slam on your brakes in a panic stop, you would be screwed. We have replaced all new parts, Master cylinder booster, both calipers, drums and pads and shoes. The ABS pump was swapped out as well, with a known good one. Still no luck. bleed the brakes numerous times. fluid is as clear as it can get. I've been considering by passing the ABS crap, but The "burb is registered in VA. And due to the yearly vehicle inspection. Thats not really a long term option...

Re: 98 Suburban brake issue, HELP!
Nobody? I am beginning to wonder if this is a engineering flaw from the factory. It acts like its not getting the proper pressure to the wheels. I'm not expecting it to stop like a corvette. But when I do push the brake I would like to feel the vehicle slowing down. It doesn't do that the way it is. So has anybody else, dealt or know the feeling I'm talking about..

Re: 98 Suburban brake issue, HELP!
Is there a special bleeding procedure for those ABS pumps? I know a lot of cars have special procedures.
Also, is yours equipped with the special load sensing braking? (GM put a ride height sensor in some trucks/suburban that sent more/less power to the rear brakes. Lastly, are you sure the computer is working correctly? ABS relies on speed speed sensors and other junk to make it work. |

yes there is a special bleeding procedure. it was bleed like it was supposed to have been. I'm not sure about the load sensing braking on this vehicle. Was supposed to have a friend bring his scanner over to read the the computer. haven't had that done yet.
