Wheels anyone

I have a 1970 GMC 5500
It has 9.00 x 20 split wheels ( widow makers) on it, that no one seems to want to work on
anyone know where i can find 22.5" wheels 10 bolt , hub piloted with 8 3/4" bolt center
I have found 3 of the 6 I need, they are Accuride wheels # 28160
I have talked to Wheels Now and they are working on getting them produced, when is unknown

Accuride are the only ones that I know of. They had already stopped production on them when I started looking for them. At the time I found a shop that still had some (gone now) and they wanted over $300 each. Considering I had only paid $1000 for my truck I just couldn't do it. Now I wish I had.

Re: Wheels anyone

I wish you did too then I could be getting them from you
three of the ones I got where 50.00 each and the forth one was 20.00 but it is over an inch narrower cant put much rubber on that one
I called Wheels Now and they actually do have some just had to get the right person, they are selling them at 350.00 ea. he said the price is high because they made them
He is working on getting them made again by an outside manufacturer could be some time next year then they will sell for around 200.00
So I am thinking I will pay the price and get ones made by them
only need three I can use the skinny one as a temporary spare
thanks for the reply

I'd be all over them at 200. If you get wind of some for that price I'd appreciate you posting it. I know what you mean about the 19.5, they're tiny an almost no options for size.

Talked to Mike at Wheels Now about these. I think I am going to buy a set. Crazy considering the wheels will cost 4 times what I paid for my truck. Still have to figure out what tires I want. I need to find a tire sizing chart so I can find proper size tire for the narrow 6.75" wide wheels. Second I need to figure out what color I want them powder coated, thinking black.

Re: Wheels anyone

I got three from mike and found three used ones at the local tire shops
I am stripping the paint off and having them galvanized
it is about 30 dollars each to galvanize at ace galvanizing in seattle

I have checked with the tire shops and they are saying a 10R/22.5 tire is what fits

Can you post some pictures of the wheels you picked up from Wheels Now?
I wanted to see how they are assembled. Welded or rivited. Do they match the used ones fairly well? Are there DOT markings on the new ones?

Re: Wheels anyone

How do the 10r22.5 tires fit these wheels? How is the space between sidewalls on the rear? I have been looking for 9R22.5 tires on SearchTempest with no luck. Wheels look good by the way.

Re: Wheels anyone

they fit just right
there is about 2 1/4 inch's between the rears
also the wheels are powder coated not galvanized as I originally planned
