Super Chevy in Memphis Parking Lot Fire

http://wreg.com/2014/04/12/fire-spre...rs-at-raceway/

I was in Memphis this past weekend, but didn't get to go to the track. Probably a good thing, might have had to walk home!

Cool Re: Super Chevy in Memphis Parking Lot Fire

That would be a tough way to have your vehicle go right there. Just sitting minding it's own and some body does it in for you.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: Super Chevy in Memphis Parking Lot Fire

It was a pretty bad deal, we were there. Hate it for all those people that were just there to have a good time, not get a flame job.

Re: Super Chevy in Memphis Parking Lot Fire

My 96 Jeep Grand Cherokee's catalytic converter set a field of tall & weedy grass afire one day, about 4 - 5 years ago. I had pulled up to park it, & thought "tall grass / fire risk," (I had seen an article in the paper about the risk of this very thing) & so I moved it off to where it was on a graveled area. I walked away, but just by luck I saw the fire starting to spread from where the car had been sitting just a minute or so earlier, & I ran back & moved it further away so it wasn't damaged.

Big Fire !!!!! Several acres burned before the local rural Fire Dept got it put out. Fortunately, no houses or other buildings or vehicles damaged.

Converters are super-hot & can cause exactly what happened there at Memphis.

Don't park over dry grass or you may have to say Good-Bye to your newer catalytic converter-equipped ride.

From the looks of it the guy who started it by getting stuck and starting the fire won't be invited back anytime soon. Terrible for all those vehicles lost.

Re: Super Chevy in Memphis Parking Lot Fire

I have only missed three supers in 20 something years including the last two. I had decided weeks ago not to go, I get depressed for a week or so afterwards seeing the people enjoying their toys and mine still sitting where they had been in some cases the same spot form the super Chevy of the year before. It is hard to work on wrecks all day every day and then be up to do it again during off time on an old truck/car. I use my down shop time to work on my old stuff but I just don't seem to have hardly any. This is by no means a gripe about having work when I do get to work on a old one it seems to bring in a wreck so out they go back down the list they slide. a man can only block sand so much.
