Looks like 'Rally' wheels to me. It would be nice if he'd put a shot of the SPID up for perusal. Nice truck, but $17K? The underside looked like it hadn't be cleaned in a few years.

Re: CL find: 1968 Chevrolet C-10 Long Bed Pickup Truck w/rare options
Yup, that's a 'Western Interior' all right. Only thing missing is the Ten Gallon Stetson on the vinyl bench seat. It's a 'Western Interior' because it's just like all the other plain jane interiors, we see out here in the West. No fancy city dude "Custom,'' "Highlander", ''Cheyenne Super'', etc., just the Standard interior. Cowboys would rather spend their money on fast women, Jack Daniels and beer than a fancy interior in a pickup truck.
I guess the modification of adding a rare 'Corvette Engine' makes it worth $10,000 more than I'd give for it. Wonder what the switch under the speedo is for? Nitrous? Boost? Electric fuel pump? I don't see a 2nd tank fill gas cap, so I don't think it's fuel select.

Re: CL find: 1968 Chevrolet C-10 Long Bed Pickup Truck w/rare options
My thoughts exactly- $17K- no way; $7K- possibly, if it got a good detailing and some engine mods, like EFI; $3700- a lot more realistic, the paint job looks good (in photos), the 'Western' interior is pretty clean. The 'real' doesn't warrant the 'deal'. JMHO, but I've seen enough of these trucks to know what's what. Seventeen long- I'll buy the wife another Mercedes!

Re: CL find: 1968 Chevrolet C-10 Long Bed Pickup Truck w/rare options
Somewhere there's a junkyard full of engine-less 'Vettes since they've all been plundered to put in re-sale pickups.
I think he's only asking $15000, so I just saved you two grand. Four Grand would be my top offer, but I'd have to deduct the price of a TH350 install from that. No way I'd run a Powerglide pig.

Re: CL find: 1968 Chevrolet C-10 Long Bed Pickup Truck w/rare options
As soon as I hear 'It's got a 'Vette engine!', I stop listening. Unless it's a Corvette being examined (like I'd really want to buy a Corvette- not!). A tech I worked with years ago, we had an ongoing 'contest', to see which of us could find the most flaws/damage/deterioration/abject mechanical buggery on a customers' Corvette. Generally, the prettier the 'Vette was, the more decrepit the vital bits were. I like Chevys and all that, but I've never had the urge to own one. There were exceptions, but those were few and far between. I think all those 'engine-less' Corvettes got ZZ4 crate engines in them- financed, of course, by sale of the highly-desirable (and oh-so-valuable) 'Vette engine!

Re: CL find: 1968 Chevrolet C-10 Long Bed Pickup Truck w/rare options
I see it has the super rare headliner too. Must be a preproduction 68 on top of all of the other one of a kind options!

Re: CL find: 1968 Chevrolet C-10 Long Bed Pickup Truck w/rare options
I guess they didn't install disc brakes because it would devalue the originality and uniqueness of this splendid example of late 60's automotive ingenuity.
We are savaging this guy pretty brutally- I wonder if he's had someone who knows their 67-72 Chevy/GMC trucks (like a board member) explain the error of his ways yet.

Re: CL find: 1968 Chevrolet C-10 Long Bed Pickup Truck w/rare options
...nice enough truck....$6500...maybe $7000 on a good day but a thorough check out for rust, damage and putzed parts is required.
Remember...there were hundreds of thousands of these made...they are not GTO's or similar and most can be replaced fairly quickly in the $5k-10k range pretty easily. My two bits Coley

Re: CL find: 1968 Chevrolet C-10 Long Bed Pickup Truck w/rare options
These kinds of threads always get closed because too many of you have negative opinions. This board promotes positive comments. There's nothing wrong with this truck, the seller is just uneducated about the options available.

Re: CL find: 1968 Chevrolet C-10 Long Bed Pickup Truck w/rare options
Well, said. And a guy has the right to ask whatever he wants when he tries to sell something. Most of us think that our stuff is worth more than someone else probably does. I honestly don't think the price is that far off. At least if it were up here in Michigan. Regardless of his claim of "Corvette" engine, you're going to have several grand into a good rebuild... add another thousand or two for the rest of the drivetrain, exhaust, could be almost another thousand, a thousand plus for the interior, body work, paint, etc.... Add it up, most of us couldn't reproduce it for much less. And if you don't have the know how, you're going to have to have someone else doing your work for you which just means more $$$. I agree that maybe he could use some help from us on the options, or even tips on doing a listing, but with the way he just got lambasted, why would he want to join this group?

Re: CL find: 1968 Chevrolet C-10 Long Bed Pickup Truck w/rare options
I think the reason these ads are brought to attention and then the trucks bombarded with negative comments is the way this truck is presented. If it had simply been an ad for a "custom" 68 Chevy no one would have thought twice about the ad, but when sellers claim stuff that just isn't true, they are at the wrath of these comments. I just don't like people trying to sell their trucks with b.s. descriptions. Tell people the truth and explain the work that's been done. Not make up these all original claims...

Re: CL find: 1968 Chevrolet C-10 Long Bed Pickup Truck w/rare options
"Western Interior" is an expression created by the CL Ad-Lister to indicate a Standard interior, IMO. The vinyl pattern on the seat is consistant with the OEM seat that was in my '68 C/10 Stepside w/ Standard trim level. The saddle color of the seat matches the armrests, but they are a Deluxe feature. The contrast of Saddle with Fawn [a gold-silver/gray] that was the usual interior trim color, leads me to believe these parts came out of another truck. Without seeing the truck in person and interviewing the last several owners, we'll never really know.

Instead of bashing,... lets inform the members here that read this what we actually see that may be incorrect. What I see,... 1967 bed with no rear marker lights. Smooth aftermarket tailgate. Seat upholstery appears to be reproduction 69-70 pattern vinyl. Wheels are 6-lug rally wheels from the 73-87 trucks. Ok,... what does everyone else see?

What I see is a fairly nice truck not worth what the seller is asking.

Re: CL find: 1968 Chevrolet C-10 Long Bed Pickup Truck w/rare options
I see a truck that someone put alot of time money and sweat into just like all the rest of us. In my opinion on the price, the owner is asking a high amount because of all the labor hours building up the truck and feels his time and effort are worth it. Or he doesnt want to let the truck go and if he HAS to let it go, he wants wants top dollar. Wouldnt you for your truck?
