swapping in a 73-87 crossmember into 63 GMC

I know there are many articles here (somewhere) on swapping in a 73-87 crossmember into a 63 era truck but I have been unable to find one, I just see people post on how this has been talked about a million times. Could someone please attach a link to this step by step process?
also would like some opinions on why/why not to install the whole crossmember or just the a-arms, brakes, and spindles. I don't want to hack out anything I don't need to. I am not afraid to as I have a whole donor (actually 2) to get the front end and rear end out of, but I also have a 67 Chevelle (pro-street) and an altered wheelbase 67 Nova that have been hacked to death. Ton of stuff that had to be "made to work" cause it sure didn't want to be there. I am trying to keep this daily driver 63 as simple as possible (cheap too) and get her back on the road. I know you guys have forgot more on these old trucks than I know and I value your opinions and advice.
Thanks in advance,
Wayne

Re: swapping in a 73-87 crossmember into 63 GMC

The disc brake thread has the most information in it. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=444823 I have done this in both my trucks and I just swap everything but the cross member. Only reason is engine was still in them. Mine are 65 and 66. Other wise I would have cleaned and painted the cross member and swapped it all at once.

Thanks Jimmy
That's kinda what I thought too. Since I don't have a motor or trans in place yet I think that is what I will do.
