Is this Chevelle SS real?

Hey guys, I am going to go look at this chevelle tomorrow, wanted to get some of your alls idea on it.
My mother works at an insurance company and this old lady told her she was going to sell her late husbands 1968 chevelle SS since he past.
She said its a 1968 chevelle SS 396 car with 55k original miles. Everything on it is supposedly original on it. The VIN is 138373B230970

Most of my concern is that it's a column shift. I don't know if any or many SS's in 68 had that, just 4 spd and floor.
