Cool, must be another car guy ... or not.
I was at a customers the other day and walked past the owners office. He had all sorts of Cadillac stuff in there. A big line of hot wheels and a big line of matchbox cars hanging on his wall. Everything he had in there was Cadillac. Cool, I love Caddy's.
I peaked in his door and said, you must be the owner of that nice Caddy sedan out there. Yep that's mine, love the Cadillacs. I thought I had a kindred spirit here lol. I told him I own a 1941 Cadillac sedanette two door. His answer ... My son just bought a 71 Corvette. Not, oh wow that's cool, a 41 Caddy. Then he made some reference to old Plymouths are like the old Cadillacs ... Ok, this guy is not a car guy like Im a car guy lol. Told him I liked his stuff and high tailed it outta there lol

Some people like cars, others appreciate cars. Big difference when the two meet lol

Yeah, I just thought it was funny. I think even on this board of truck lovers there are probably a whole lot of people that aren't as goofy bout the car world as me.
Oldiron, Lock Doc, Special K, and Livrat are just a few of the ones I can think of that really know their stuff when it comes to an overall excellent knowledge of the old car scene.

I would have asked you if you had any pic's of the 41! Love the old ones. He missed an opportunity, has an interest ... but not a passion.

Re: Cool, must be another car guy ... or not.
I love football. I didn't get into college football until I went to Clemson in 1999 and got a whole season of free tickets as a student. For the next 5 years I went to every home game. Since then, my wife and I (both alumni) go to 3-4 home games a year.
I have trouble remembering things. I can file away important stuff in my mind, but things like names, dates, etc my mind considers them "not important" and they slip away. So, for that reason, I don't bother to learn more than maybe 8-10 of the star players names because (especially in college ball) they might only play 1-2 seasons. According to friends and some people I work with I'm not a real Clemson fan because I can only name the head coach and a few players. Not knowing who everyone is on the team does not lessen my enjoyment of being at the games or watching them on TV. Heck, I might even enjoy it more because everyone else is worried when a certain player will leave for the NFL, etc, because they follow that crap, I don't ![]() So can I still be just as big a fan as the next guy?

I don't watch college sports so I'm going to have to bow down to your buddies and parrot what they say

Re: Cool, must be another car guy ... or not.
He's a Cadillac guy, not an old car guy. But, his son is! But only Corvettes. Corvettes and Cadillacs have both always had a stronger following than other vehicles. They are something special, not just another car, and it has nothing to do with their older ancestors. There are all kinds of people driving newer GM Trucks who never give a thought to where they came from. It has nothing to do with lineage, heritage, or any other aspect of the past. It is a progression of interest to then become fascinated with the roots of that new product and have a passion grow from it. As my dad would say, "The guy's lightweight"

It's the non car guys that I notice the most.
Guy comes up to my rat rod and says, you going to fix this thing up? Guy looks at my flat black rod and says, what color you going to paint it? Posted via Mobile Device |
