Replacing Cab Mount Bushings
Today I got under the truck and sprayed the cab mounts with pb blaster and im letting them soak overnight since I'm in no rush. My question is simple. When I go to remove the bolts tomorrow, would it be better to use an impact gun or a ratchet/breaker bar? My main concern is that I don't want to break the captive nut free and have to cut a hole in the cab. Thanks in advance.

Always a breaker bar to get them going then a impact especially on something like that.

ok, so an impact from the start would be too much torque and higher chance to break the captive nut free?

I think you could feel the fastener better with a breaker bar. The impact might rattle through corrosion better, but I also find I that, if need be, I have more grunt with a good breaker bar than an impact.
I soaked my cab mount bolts with Moovit (another un-stickifier) every day for about six months before I pulled mine. Came apart just fine.

A steady amount of force will likely not break something instead of a quick jar. With that being said be warned the bolts can be really rusted as well and shear off... Lots of lube and heat.

so i finally got the front driver's side nut loose. i decided to just take it out since i could turn it. while i was turning it, the upper bushing came out. also, it looks like the bolt is coming out at an angle. i have it out quite a few turns but it's not coming out. just for comparison i removed the rear driver's side which came out nice and straight. do i need to lift the cab to straighten the bolt out to lift it, or is there a chance i broke the captive nut?

The bolts jam and spin the nuts due to dirt and rust on the threads. Loosen .25 turn, tighten a bit less than .25 turn, repeat to clean the threads.
