White walls and steel wheels

I've recently acquired the correct steel wheels for my truck and a very nice set of P01 hubcaps. I'm curious what white wall tires members are buying and running on their trucks?

Re: White walls and steel wheels

Hankook Optimo is a decent affordable white wall if you don't mind the pronounced billboard on the sidewall. Milestar also has one, but I had a less than stellar experience with their tread wear and won't buy them again. My next set will be Cooper Trendsetters.

Re: White walls and steel wheels

depends on how much white wall you want. Here's my '41 F*rd with 3" wide whites from Diamondback tires.

I like whitewalls as long as they're facing the inside of the truck.

Re: White walls and steel wheels

C10king (sp?) has a truck (or two) with wide whites. Not the super wide ones though. Personally I don't like the really wide whites on our trucks, but his are a really nice compromise. I would have no problem running them on a nice lowered truck.

Re: White walls and steel wheels

C10 King's are medium width, maybe 1"(?) and are from Coker. If Cooper offers a narrow whitewall, that would be a smart way to go. I think they are one of the best tire companies out there today. I can't bring myself to mount Kamahoochys on on my old GMs.

Hey Joe, don't worry. I've never seen whitewalls made for anything bigger than a 1/2t...15"

Re: White walls and steel wheels

Mine are Mastercraft 235/70/15. I might go 255 if I had it to do over but I do like what I bought (first pic).

Edit: my ww's are just a shade over 3/4", maybe 13/16".

Second pic is C10 King truck. Sweet. I had my wheels painted white to mimic factory look.
But after seeing this 'King' truck I painted my wheels black and like it much better.
Looks less 'busy' or less complicated with the black wheels.

Re: White walls and steel wheels

Thanks Larry. Those two trucks are beautiful! Were all steel wheels painted white from the factory?

Check with special-K or one of the others who would know for sure, but I think they were all white for 72.

Couple pics of mine (in progress). I believe they are 1-3/4" wide SureTracs.
