89 Sierra 454 Swap Opinion?

I had the opportuning to acquiring a 89 Sierra 3500 truck for little to nothing. The motor is running and the transmission seems to be running pretty okay as well. I'm currently working on a 67 C10 and was wondering if I should swap the 454 into it. My original plans was to swap a 5.3 Vortec into the c10. What do you guys think?

From what I understand this 454 model did not produce so much horsepower but had a decent amount of torque.

I would stick with your plans to swap in the 5.3l, if nothing else, you could sell the 454 to help fund the 5.3....the 89 454 would be a Tbi engine with a th400 transmission, power would be Mediocre, and gas mileage would be terrible. That 454 only makes in the neighborhood of 230 hp, whereas the 5.3l will make about 295-300 stock, although the 454 will make more torque. Something else, trouble shooting Tbi engines can be really hard, it usually takes a really good scan tool like a snap on solus to read their old obd1 computers. In contrast, any old scan tool will read the obd2 ecm from the 5.3l
