1960 Clutch Slave Cylinder Bracket?
Good Morning All,
I have a 1960 Apache with a rebuilt 350, and what I was told was the stock 3 speed converted to shift on the floor - however I had the slave cylinder mounting bracket break on me and I was hoping somebody could tell me if this is a stock part? or something that was done as part of the floor shift conversion? It feels like Aluminium, so I am guessing its not original, but I am not sure where it came from either ![]() ![]() Thanks, Keith |

Re: 1960 Clutch Slave Cylinder Bracket?
What you have there is not original to a '60-'62 truck. The original configuration is as shown in LVPhotos' post. The slave bolts directly to the bellhousing.

Re: 1960 Clutch Slave Cylinder Bracket?
Ok, thanks for confirming guys ...
I don't have the parts to put this back to a column shift (though I would like to, so I will have to see if I can get it put back together...) |

Re: 1960 Clutch Slave Cylinder Bracket?
find the correct bell-housing and parts for your 3 on the tree. do you have a pic of the parts bolted to the trans or bell? looks like some bolts and washers can get you back on the road temp.

Re: 1960 Clutch Slave Cylinder Bracket?
For the record and idea, I switched over to Hydraulic bearing because the clutch fork and clear the headers

Re: 1960 Clutch Slave Cylinder Bracket?
A 3 on the tree versus a floor shift has absolutely no bearing on the slave cylinder mounting. A pic of the bellhousing you have may help determine what you are working with.

Re: 1960 Clutch Slave Cylinder Bracket?
I will try and snag a picture from underneath the truck tomorrow - its currently dead at work ... the slave cylinder was spaced out (using this bracket) to set the "throw" correctly.
I have no idea if it was correctly done or not, but it was functioning (at least for a while) I dropped this bracket at the fab shop to see if they can re-create (a little more robustly), and I will get it running and then we can see about making it correct as well. Thank you guys all for your help! |

Re: 1960 Clutch Slave Cylinder Bracket?
I just yanked the 235 out of my 60 and it had a bracket like the one being talked about, and I broke it but the v8 bellhousing that I bought looks like the slave bolts directly to it, like in LV's pic
