What is this red light?

This used to be mounted on the steering column. Can anyone definitively tell me what it is? Can I disconnect it by tracing the wires back and removing with no harm or issues coming up? This is a 1958 Apache. Thanks. Rob.

Re: What is this red light?

Hard to say without tracing the wiring to the source. It's not factory, must have been added by a PO, so should be able to remove it.

Not sure what it's for. But I don't like red lights. Especially in my rear view mirror.

Re: What is this red light?

Do you have a trailer hitch? Maybe it was an indicator light for the electric trailer brakes. The one on my old hydraulically driven electric brakes had a light right on the unit, though.

Re: What is this red light?

Shouldn't be too hard to trace. What are there, like 7 wires in the whole truck?

I'll take a shot at that..... The light could be wired to a Parole Officer sensor.. Flashes when a Parole Officer is in the area..

It is an indicator for whatever it is intended to display a visible alert for.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: What is this red light?

Actually I found out what it's for...every time it comes on I tell my wife I have to get a new (whatever I want) part to try and make the warning light go away.

Re: What is this red light?

Well I finally found out what this light was. I contacted the PO who remembers talking with their PO who bought it from WA state dept of forestry. Long story...it was nothing more than a warning light indicating when the alternator wasn't charging correctly. Obviously it was installed after 1967 because I have a small block 350 engine. Mystery solved.

Re: What is this red light?

It's a wireless switch, when engaged it puts up a HUD display in front of the driver to take you directly to Area 51..... via the invisible hyper-sonic devices.

But keep it under your hat and tell no one or they will have to kill ya!!!

Just my .02 comment.

PS disconnect it, and they won't find enough of you to bury.. No Sh!t bro
