Only stuff I've got done this weekend has been studying for my audit exam and some other little bits of online work

Wife and I removed about 100 feet of barbed wire fence, pulled the posts and rolled up the wire. Took down all of the snow fence and rolled it up. I mowed the yard this afternoon. I think I am all caught up for a few days so maybe I can work on the cars and trucks for a change....

I took the Granddaughter and her bike to an asphalt parking lot and let her ride for a long while . Then tonight she wanted western burgers . My own design . Roll the hamburger in to a ball and then toss it hard on to a piece of parchment . flattens right out . Think she likes doing that part .

I just tinkered, meddled, and milled about the place. I worked last week hand digging 30" deep continuous footers under a carport slab. It is a ridiculous endeavor so it was as tiring on my brain as it was physical. I had good intentions for work around here for the weekend but by afternoon Saturday I realized lethargy was winning. I poked around and did this and that things that will add to the bigger cause at a later point. Never did get the woodshop tools out for what I had planned. So, "I'm fired!"

Re: worked on the yard instead of the site.

Wife and I took the 49 out for a cruise. Delivered some things to family members and dropped off at the end of the drive way and chatted for a while. Stopped by some friends house and parked in the drive way and talked for a bit. Then took the long way home. Out for about 3 hours. Felt good as the sun was shinning and about 58 degrees.

Re: worked on the yard instead of the site.

Converting the green house into a chicken coop. Chickens are scheduled to arrive May 4th.

Spent the last two weekends doing leaves, which are formidable around here. Two consecutive weekends of splitting wood prior to that.

I'm exhausted. I don't know how I would know if I caught "the Virus" because I always have fatigue and body aches....

Re: worked on the yard instead of the site.

We worked on the garden spot and have it ready for some serious planting. We also moved some shrubs that got bigger than I had thought so they were kindof taking over the walk way. It was a busy weekend.

Re: worked on the yard instead of the site.

I proved what I already knew. If you want some social distance just decide to take down that last 60+ foot tall pine tree you had been wanting to remove. I can guarantee you none of your friends, neighbors, or family will bother you for hours. Thought this was the last big tree to take down but discovered a 30+ foot tall Black Tupelo by my driveway is dead as a hammer. Oh my aching back!

Also worked on finishing the shudders for the house my wife has been wanting. Did the Shou Sugi Ban method of burning and followed up with a dark stain.

No, doggone it. We have to order one to fit a long bed and they were closed on Saturday. We're planning to drive back into Billings tomorrow and order it, and also get a new tire for the Jeep. Had a flat last Thursday and totally ruined a nearly brand new tire. But we have a warranty that's supposed to cover that sort of thing, so we'll see what happens.

I've got most of a semi-load of logs like that, that I bought last fall. Some are smaller but most of them are pretty big (which I like!).

Takes me maybe an hour to cut up and load a 30'-40' big log. But I don't have to drop it and I don't have to cut off and dispose the branches.

I wish I had 100 acres of pines like this. About 60-70 feet tall and 24-26" at the base. My problem was I only had about 6-8 to get rid of and nobody wanted that few.

I dropped it and removed the limbs one day and bucked it up the next. I have found with pine if you split it like fire wood it burns pretty decent in a fire pit. Would not burn it inside but outside it makes fire and heat. Easy to light and will burn in 4-5 weeks. Logs won't burn a year from now. My neighbors will come get some once it's split. Main thing is it will be gone.

I've got 40 acres but of course most of the trees are not nearly that big. It was logged before we bought it so most of the remaining big trees are the ones with huge limbs all the way to the ground.

I burn split pine to heat the house all fall/winter/spring. It used to be that I could hardly keep up with cutting all the trees that died each year but now hardly any of them are dying. It must be all that wonderful CO2

So that's why last fall I just gave up and bought a full semi-load (50K pounds) from a logger. Funny, that's what I used to do 35 years ago: deliver logs for firewood, but my truck & loader was a lot smaller. I figured my loads were only about 4-5 cords.
